Measuring your electric cellular blind

Before recording your measurements, please follow these simple steps to ensure your powered blind is an exact fit:

1. Use a metal tape measure for accurate measurements.
2. Make sure you have a pen and paper ready to record your measurements in centimetres (see below to
download our measurement templates).
3. Take into account any obstructions such as window handles or tiles, etc.

Inside Recess Fit

Take three measurements across the width and height of the recess and use the shortest measurements recorded. Don't make any allowances for the headrail - we'll will deduct 10mm from your recess width measurements to allow a 5mm clearance gap at either side to ensure the blind operates smoothly.

Select how to mount your electric cellular blind

Select this option if you want your cellular blind top fixed to the top section of the window recess. Make sure you have taken into consideration any window fixtures such as handles or locks that could obstruct the movement of your blind.

*We will deduct 10mm from your width measurement when fabricating your cellular blind to provide a 5mm gap at either side of the window recess.

The motor is typically located in a central position within the cellular blind headrail, but with the supply cable towards the left or right side of a central position. Assess the best position for the power supply (left or right side of the window) and select this side for the motor position.

Choosing the motor position for your electric cellular blind

Your electric cellular blind is powered using a battery, a solar pack or the mains plug-in power pack and the position of the motor will determine which side of the blind you should mount the battery / solar panel and in case of the mains power pack a socket outlet has to be within close proximity of the cellular blind.

Battery pack Solar pack
The battery pack (Li-Ion or Lithium) simply connects to the motor supply cable. Both battery packs have a approximately 15 cm length of cable to make this connection and therefore must be situated within reasonable proximity of the motor position.
Most battery packs are mounted directly below & behind the blind within the recess or above & behind the blind if outside the recess mounted and hidden from view. The battery pack can also be mounted vertically if preferred.		 The solar pack comprises of a slimline solar panel and a rechargeable battery that simply connects to the motor supply cable. The solar pack is supplied with a 'Y' cable to make the connection between the solar panel and battery pack and then to the motor. This cable is approximately 30 cm in length and therefore must be situated within reasonable proximity of the motor position.
The solar panel is typically mounted directly below & behind the blind directly onto the window pane, with the battery pack within the recess or above & behind the blind if outside the recess mounted and hidden from view.

Mains Plug-In Power Pack
The plug-in power pack provides a permanent power feed to the motor with the power pack tplugging into a standard mains socket outlet and the supply cable connected to the blind motor supply cable. The supply cable of the power pack is 3M long, so a socket outlet within close proximity of the motorised blind will be required.

Mains plug-in power pack for a Somfy WireFree powered blind.

A plug-in power pack that provides a dedicated power supply to the motorised blind. The power pack plugs into a standard mains socket outlet, with the supply cable connecting directly with the motor. This solution will require a socket outlet within 3M of the motorised blind.

The mains plug-in power pack is only suitable for powering a single motorised blind powered with a Somfy WireFree motor.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with the Somfy WireFree motor range.
  • 1 x mains plug-in power pack required per Somfy WireFree motor.
  • Not suitable for charging battery packs.

Compatible with the following extension cables:

Not compatible with Somfy WireFree Rollup 28 RTS Li-ion embedded motor.

Enjoy the convenience of battery power with no requirement for wiring with the rechargeable LI-ION battery for a Somfy WireFree motorised blind. The rechargeable Li-ion battery pack simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply. Once the battery power expires, simply disconnect from the motor, charge back up and reconnect for continued operation.

Note: to charge the battery you need the LI-ION rechargeable battery charger (supplied separately)

Lithium non-rechargeable battery pack for a Somfy WireFree powered blind. The battery pack simply connects to the blind motor to provide the power supply.

The solar panel fits to the inside window pane and then connected to the li-ion rechargeable battery pack, which simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply.

Dimensions
Solar Panel: 300mm long x 40mm high x 11mm deep.
Li-ion Rechargeable Battery Pack: 250mm long x 24mm high x 25mm wide.

*Not compatible with motors that have an embedded battery*

You may not want to select a power supply as an option during the order stage as you may already own a Somfy power supply that is compatible with the Somfy powered blind system.

Warning: only select this option if you already have a Somfy Power Supply
Your electric blind will not operate if you do not have a power supply connected to the motor.

Choosing the power supply for your electric cellular blind

You have several options available to you when selecting your blind power supply:
Lithium Battery pack (non-rechargeable)
Somfy NON-Rechargeable lithium battery pack for WireFree motorised blind. This battery pack comprises of
- a Somfy reloadable battery tube
- 8 x AA Energiser lithium batteries (non-rechargeable) - once these battery cells deplete, they will require replacing
- Supplied with battery tube mounting clips
Rechargeable Li-ion battery pack
Rechargeable Li-ion battery pack for a Somfy WireFree powered blind. The rechargeable Li-ion battery pack simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply. Once the battery power expires, simply disconnect from the motor, charge back up and reconnect for continued operation. (NOTE: Battery charger supplied separately.)

Solar pack
The compact Somfy solar panel is designed to fit behind the blind on the inner window pane and continually charge the battery during daylight. The 12V li-ion rechargeable battery connects to the solar panel with simple plug in connector. The battery supply cable then plugs into the motor to make the power connection complete.
This solar pack comprises of:
- Solar panel
- Adhesive strips to secure the solar panel to the inner window pane
- Somfy li-ion rechargeable battery pack
- Battery mounting clips.
Mains adaptor
Somfy Mains Plug-In Power Pack is a simple plug-in power pack that provides a dedicated power feed to the motorised blind. The power pack plugs into a standard mains socket outlet, with the supply cable connecting directly with the motor. This solution will require a socket outlet within 3M of the motorised blind.

Your electric blind will not operate if you do not have a power supply connected to the motor.

- you may already own a Somfy RTS remote control that is compatible with the Somfy powered blind system.

Please note that without a control you can't operate the electric blind.

Somfy V2 Charger

The V2 LI-ION battery charger connects to the compatible Somfy LI-ION motor or the rechargeable LI-ION battery pack with a simple plug in connector. Simply plug the charger connector into the charging port on the motor head or battery pack. The charger has a 4M long supply cable.

The TaHoma mobile app allows you to add up to 20 devices: roller shutters, interior blinds, garage doors, gates.

The connectivity kit is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing you to start a scenario with your voice.

Our cellular blinds are powered by Somfy motors, the world leader in motorised blinds products. A range of remote handsets, wireless wall switches and timers are available to provide your preferred powered blind control option. The motor on this blind can be powered by a selection of 12Vdc power supplies:

  • Li-ion rechargeable battery pack (battery charger sold separately).

Our classically styled made to measure Cellular blinds consist of large horizontal pleats which fold away when opened. Fabrics are available in a wide range of patterns, colours and textures, and you can choose from a blackout or dimout lining according to your light preferences. Fully configurable as you build your blind system from our range of Somfy power and control options.
