Help with measuring your electric roman blind

Before recording your measurements, please follow these simple steps to ensure your powered roman blind is an exact fit:

  1. Use a metal tape measure for accurate measurements.
  2. Make sure you have a pen and paper ready to record your measurements in centimetres (see below to download our measurement templates).
  3. Take into account any obstructions such as window handles or tiles, etc.

Inside Recess Fit

Take three measurements across the width and height of the recess and use the shortest measurements recorded. Don't make any allowances for the headrail - we'll will fabricate your powered roman blind based on your measurements and allow a 5mm clearance gap at either side to ensure the blind operates smoothly.

Before taking your measurements, you must decide on how much fabric overlap you would like over the window recess. Take this into account when recording your measurements.

Fit Type

Select this option if you want your roman blind fitted inside the window recess. Make sure you have taken into consideration any window fixtures such as handles or locks that could obstruct the movement of your blind.

*We will deduct 13mm from your width measurement when fabricating your Roman blind to ensure it fits perfectly within your window recess.

Select this option if you want your roman blind fitted outside the window recess or want to order the width at an exact size. Add extra width on top of the recess width to ensure the fabric will overlap the window recess on both sides.

Inside Window Recess Fit
Take three measurements across the width and height of the recess and use the shortest measurements recorded. Don't make any allowances for the headrail - we'll will fabricate your powered roman blind based on your measurements and deduct 13mm from the width measurement to ensure the blind fits within the window recess and operates smoothly.

Before taking your measurements, you must decide on how much fabric overlap you would like over the window recess. Take this into account when recording your measurements.

Select your power supply

Mains plug-in power pack for a Somfy WireFree powered blind.

A plug-in power pack that provides a dedicated power supply to the motorised blind. The power pack plugs into a standard mains socket outlet, with the supply cable connecting directly with the motor. This solution will require a socket outlet within 3M of the motorised blind.

The mains plug-in power pack is only suitable for powering a single motorised blind powered with a Somfy WireFree motor.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with the Somfy WireFree motor range.
  • 1 x mains plug-in power pack required per Somfy WireFree motor.
  • Not suitable for charging battery packs.

Compatible with the following extension cables:

Not compatible with Somfy WireFree Rollup 28 RTS Li-ion embedded motor.

Enjoy the convenience of battery power with no requirement for wiring with the rechargeable LI-ION battery for a Somfy WireFree motorised blind. The rechargeable Li-ion battery pack simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply. Once the battery power expires, simply disconnect from the motor, charge back up and reconnect for continued operation.

Note: to charge the battery you need the LI-ION rechargeable battery charger (supplied separately)

A reloadable battery tube that allows you to insert 8 x AA alkaline or lithium battery cells to provide the 12V power supply for the blind motor.

Once the battery pack is loaded with the AA batteries, it simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply.

Supplied with battery tube mounting clips.

  • 440mm long x 21mm diameter.

The solar panel fits to the inside window pane and then connected to the li-ion rechargeable battery pack, which simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply.

You may not want to select a power supply as an option during the order stage as you may already own a Somfy power supply that is compatible with the Somfy powered blind system.

Your electric blind will not operate if you do not have a power supply connected to the motor.

Choosing the power supply for your electric roman blind

You have several options available to you when selecting your blind power supply:
Somfy reloadable battery tube (non-rechargeable)
Somfy reloadable battery tube allowing you to insert your own non-rechargeable batteries:
- a Somfy reloadable battery tube
- requires 8 x AA alkaline or lithuim battery cells inserting (batteries not supplied)
- Supplied with battery tube mounting clips
Rechargeable Li-ion battery pack
Rechargeable Li-ion battery pack for a Somfy WireFree powered blind. The rechargeable Li-ion battery pack simply connects to the motor to provide the power supply. Once the battery power expires, simply disconnect from the motor, charge back up and reconnect for continued operation. (NOTE: Battery charger supplied separately.)

Solar pack
The compact Somfy solar panel is designed to fit behind the blind on the inner window pane and continually charge the battery during daylight. The 12V li-ion rechargeable battery connects to the solar panel with simple plug in connector. The battery supply cable then plugs into the motor to make the power connection complete.
This solar pack comprises of:
- Solar panel
- Adhesive strips to secure the solar panel to the inner window pane
- Somfy li-ion rechargeable battery pack
- Battery mounting clips
Mains adaptor
Somfy Mains Plug-In Power Pack is a simple plug-in power pack that provides a dedicated power feed to the motorised blind. The power pack plugs into a standard mains socket outlet, with the supply cable connecting directly with the motor. This solution will require a socket outlet within 3M of the motorised blind.
No Power Supply
Warning: only select this option if you already have a Somfy Power Supply
Your electric blind will not operate if you do not have a power supply connected to the motor.

Select Lining *

Select the lining for your electric roman blind

Select this lining option to allow some light to filter through the fabric panel.

Select this lining option to block light filtering through the fabric panel.

Note: As the panels are stitched together, small 'pinpricks' of light may filter through the stitch holes with some fabrics. The fabric panels are stitched together to ensure that they fold correctly when drawn and if the panels are not stitched, they will not fold correctly. 

Help with choosing the lining for your electric roman blind

All of our Roman blinds are fitted with a plain cream liner as standard for a real quality finish. We offer two options:
Dimout Lining
This is ideal for most windows in the home. It will help prevent the fabric fading in the sunlight and will also allow some light to filter through when the blind is lowered and it’s bright outside.
Blackout Lining
We would always recommend a blackout lining for a bedroom, especially if you are a light sleeper or if you have children who wake once the sun comes up. Blackout linings are also great for providing additional glare control in a home office or if you love a dark environment when watching the TV.

    Help with choosing a remote control for your electric roman blind

    No remote control

    You may not want to select a remote control as an option during the order stage as:

    - you are ordering more than one blind and have already selected a remote control.
    - you may already own a Somfy RTS remote control that is compatible with the Somfy powered blind system.
    - you would rather select a control by browsing through the accessories section of the site.
    Please note that without a control you can't operate the electric blind.

    Somfy V2 Charger

    The V2 LI-ION battery charger connects to the compatible Somfy LI-ION motor or the rechargeable LI-ION battery pack with a simple plug in connector. Simply plug the charger connector into the charging port on the motor head or battery pack. The charger has a 4M long supply cable.

    The connectivity kit is designed to connect and centralise your motorised devices with RTS technology as well as lighting via Somfy radio receivers. It allows you to control products individually or as a group via the TaHoma smartphone app.

    The TaHoma mobile app allows you to add up to 20 devices: roller shutters, interior blinds, garage doors, gates.

    The connectivity kit is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing you to start a scenario with your voice.

    Note: Standard Somfy control is still required to carry out blind programming. Scheduled/timed and advanced scenes are not available with the Connectivity kit.

    Our roman blinds are powered by Somfy motors, the world leader in motorised blinds products. A range of battery powered remote handsets, wall switches and timer controls are available to provide your preferred powered blind control option. The blind motor can be powered by a selection of 12Vdc power supplies:

    • Lithium battery tube.
    • Li-ion rechargeable battery pack (battery charger sold separately).
    • Solar pack.
    • Mains plug in power adapter.

Supplied with adhesive strips to secure the solar panel to the inner window pane and battery mounting clips. Solar panel length/width: 301mm/41mm - Battery pack length/diameter: 530mm/20mm.
            • Somfy Mains Plug In Power Pack - The plug-in power pack provides a permanent power feed to the motor. Plug into a standard 230V socket outlet and connect the supply cable to the motor. Supply cable length: 3M.

    In the box

    • Powered roller blind fabricated to your specification complete with your choice of Somfy Sonesse 28 RTS quiet drive motor fitted within the roller assembly.
    • Standard roller system: supplied as a standard roller assembly with universal top/face fix brackets.
    • Cassette system: supplied in a white, anthracite grey or black cassette profile. Supplied with either top or face fix spring brackets depending on the fit type selected during the order process.
    • Power supply – supplied with the relevant Sonesse 28 RTS  motor model depending on the power supply option selected. Li-ion rechargeable battery options will provide 9-12 months of average use on 100cm high blind, 6-9 months on a 200cm high blind. A plug in mains adapter is supplied when mains power is selcted as the power supply option.
    • The control selected (if applicable) during the order process.
    • Battery chargers ARE NOT supplied as standard and must be purchased separately (a charger can be added in the ‘optional extra’ step when configuring your blind).
