Measure For Electric Curtain Tracks
Getting the right fit for your curtains starts with accurate measuring.
Choosing the correct curtain track length
ensures your curtains hang beautifully, open and close smoothly, and frame your window perfectly.
Follow our simple
measuring guide below to make sure your track is the ideal size for your space.
Measure the recess width
Use a steel tape measure to take the width of your window recess from edge to edge.
Allow extra space on each side
To let your curtains stack back neatly and maximise natural light, add at least 15cm to each side of the recess measurement.
Calculate your track length
Your recommended curtain track length is the recess width + 30cm(15cm per side). For larger windows or heavier curtains, you may wish to add a little more to ensure the curtains clear the glass fully when open.
Tips
- Always double-check you have enough wall space either side of the window to accommodate the extra length before ordering your track.
- If you are replacing curtain tracks, we advise that you measure the width of the existing fitting rather than the window.
